About our Socks and Clothing:
Organic
The fibers used in our socks are organic and are grown without the use of chemical pesticides.  With some fibers, it makes a big difference whether or not the fibers are produced in accordance with organic standards. With cotton, for example, non-organic cotton is quite common, and has the highest pesticide use of any one crop. In the case of wool, organic wool comes from sheep that are not dipped in pesticides, and are fed organic feed. Additionally, the health of the sheep is a priority, and genetic engineering and use of synthetic hormones is prohibited. When fibers are grown organically, the water supply in the surrounding area remains  uncontaminated by pesticides, the people working with the crops and living in surrounding communities are not exposed to hazardous and sometimes deadly chemicals, and the end product does not contain any residual pesticide. Organic farmers are also concerned with sustainability of the land and treating our environment kindly. We do carry socks made from Alpaca fibers as well. While the alpaca fibers in our socks do not carry the organic label, you can rest assured that the farmers treat their alpacas ethically, and with love and care!
All Fair Labor/Fair Wage
Every pair of socks and clothing item from Eco-Footprints is made by manufacturers for  whom paying fair wages is important. Not a single item from our store was made in a sweatshop or made by a child laborer. Many of the fibers are also produced in the United States, but in cases where they are grown elsewhere, they are acquired using fair labor practices. A few of our items are made outside the U.S.; the country of origin will always be specified in the product description.
Natural Fibers
Natural fibers breathe better, last longer, and are much more  comfortable! Please note that most socks are blended with some amount of synthetic fiber for stretchiness and elasticity. In many cases, the synthetic fiber content is a small percentage. The fiber ratios will be listed in the product description.
